He boasts plenty of ability and has been able to push Justify quite far in his previous runs so you get the feeling that he is really emerging as the unknown quantity in this contest so there’s a lot of confidence about his ability.
McKinzie is another interesting contender here and he’ll be representing Bob Baffert’s California-based stable. There were a number of punters who thought he was going to be able to put together a better performance in the Breeders’ Cup Classic back in early November but he wasn’t able to muster up the firepower that many of us have come to associate with his excellent performances over the past while.
It may be that he simply needs to come on a bit and grow into himself a bit more before he’s going to be taking on top class older horses like Accelerate. He trades well into the double digits.
Diversify was one that many observers thought would be able to put together a great performance in the Breeders’ Cup Classic and there were many who thought that he was going to be the one to push Accelerate all the way.
He briefly traded as the outright favourite for the Breeders’ Cup in the ante post market following his spectacular victory at Saratoga towards the end of the meet.
