2019 Royal Ascot Ante Post Betting Preview

We are now just about three weeks away from the Royal Meeting and some of the most exciting flat racing to grace the grounds at Ascot racecourse in Berkshire. There is plenty to like about the ante post markets for a number of the big races and one of the unique features of this years’ iteration of Ascot is the fact that there aren’t many clear discernable favourites competing in the top races.

The Queen Anne always gets the festival off to a big start and this year we have the favourite trading in the ante post markets with a price as high as 5/1 with a number of top bookmakers. You’ll find Mustashry available anywhere between 7/2 and 5/1 depending on whom you’re wagering with.

He is facing some pretty stiff competition in the 1 mile contest as both Laurens and Le Brivado are competitive at 8/1 price tags. Barney Roy holds an entry for this race and can be backed around a 12/1 margin having just returned to the racetrack with a winning effort today.

Too Darn Hot is considered by many to be the big favourite for the Royal Ascot meeting and he has been backed down to a 13/8 price tag with a number of top bookmakers to win the St James Palace Stakes on the first day of the meeting. He was declared unfit for the 2000 Guineas after trading as the betting favourite throughout most of the winter in the ante post markets for the first English Classic of the season.

Both Enable and Sea of Class trade at 7/2 prices as they are joint-favourites in the betting markets for the Prince of Wales Stakes, which headlines the second day’s action from Royal Ascot. You’ll find Magical available at a solid 6/1 price tag trading as the clear second choice.

Stradivarius is available as the big favourite in the showpiece contest the Ascot Gold Cup and you’ll him priced as high as a 13/8 listing with no real genuine second choice emerging to beat him. Cross Counter is the shortest priced competitor with a 5/1 listing available.
