As it currently stands, the St James Palace stakes seems to be a battle between the likes of Phoenix Of Spain and the extremely talented Too Darn Hot - who had been a leading fancy for the Guineas for quite some time but missed the race to the dismay of a number of ante post punters who had him firmly backed since 2018.

Right now, you’ll find both contenders floated by the bookmakers at a best price of around 9/4 and it’s going to be interesting to see how the money flows into the market and whether there winds up being more betting separation between the two of them.

Of the two, most will reckon that Too Darn Hot still has the most upside but it’s worth noting that, while he may have been pointed at this race for a while, he may still not be 100% due to his lack of a recent run.
