Typically, this race has a very overhyped favourite who trades at a short price but that’s not exactly the case this year with the favourites trading around a 9/2 listing for the win in the Supreme Novices.
Nigel Twiston-Davies Al Dancer has plenty of ability and will be looking to make a big impression here as he seeks his fifth win on the bounce. He’s done well over the past couple of months and looks to be coming into the race in cracking form and, if he wasn’t up against so many other solid contenders, would probably be trading as a significantly stronger favourite.
The lightly-raced Angel’s Breath looks to be a really interesting option here after finishing second last time out in his first loss under rules. His price sits at around 9/2 with several bookmakers but there are a few who have him at 5/1. It looks as though he’ll appreciate the soft ground as his victory near the 2m distance came over a wet surface.
Ruby Walsh will be piloting Klassical Dream and this one will probably wind up going off at a shorter price than he’s trading at right now. He was able to move out of maiden company right into a Grade 1 stake at Leopardstown in his second effort and he only showed hints of his ability there.
