2020 Betfair Chase Betting Preview
- By A.J. Ryder on November 20, 2020 15:47 GMTWe’ve got one of the most widely-anticipated National Hunt races of the early season upon us with the Betfair Chase unfolding at Haydock Park on Saturday with several key contenders set to line up. While the field isn’t exactly numerous, the field is packed with talent and you can bank on several of these looking to this race as the launching point for a season with a run in the Gold Cup in March.
Lostintranslation is considered to be the outright favourite by the bookmakers and his price has him trading around an 11/8 listing. This will be a seasonal debut for him and he was a disappointment in the Gold Cup last season with a third place finish in the big race.
Look for him to put together another good performance here but he will likely have to unleash a quality performance if he’s going to hit the line first.
Clan Des Obeaux is probably the biggest story coming into the race and he is trading as the favourite for a number of ante post contests further down the line like the King George and the Cheltenham Gold Cup itself. The Paul Nicholls-trained runner was out three times last year, losing on his debut at Down Royal to Road To Respect.
Following that he triumphed in the King George before putting in a tame performance for the Gold Cup. This will be an interesting effort from him and if he comes out all guns blazing then there’s no reason why he shouldn’t hit the line first. Look for him around a solid 9/4 ante post price tag.

Bristol De Mai is priced around a 5/2 margin and looks like a solid option for those looking at an outside runner. Should you think that either of the leading two fancies might need a run then this could definitely be the play. Bellshill is available around a 16/1 margin while Keeper Hill rounds out the field at 33s.
