2020 Champion Hurdle Cheltenham Betting

We are just a few weeks away from the kick off of one of the biggest betting events on the planet with the opening day of the Cheltenham Festival drawing closer by the day. The first day’s action is always some of the most exciting and the big feature contest of the day is the Champion Hurdle which will pit some of the best hurdlers in the game against each other.

There’s a lot to like about some of the leading fancies here with Honeysuckle ranking as the outright favourite to win the race despite some tough competition from a group of talented contenders. The seven-year-old mare was victorious at Cheltenham last year and she retains her undefeated record coming into this contest against male contenders.

There’s a lot to like about her ability and her victory in early February in the Irish Champion Hurdle shows that she’s a legit contender to win this race and romp up the hill when it matters most. Henry De Bromhead’s charge could etch her name into Cheltenham lore on Tueday’s opener, and you can look at her around an 11/4 margin in the ante post market.

Epatante is the other main contender here and she’s trading around a 4/1 margin with several top bookmakers to pull off a dramatic victory in the Champion Hurdle. The JP McManus-owned mare deserves plenty of accolades and she’ll be looking to avenge her defeat in the Ladbroke World Hurdle at Kempton on Boxing Day when she was beaten by Silver Streak despite being sent off as the significant ⅕ favourite on the day.

She was able to win the Champion Hurdle last year with her sole run of 2020 being that race. She has adopted a similar type of approach this time around and she could be set for another big win.

Goshen is another one to keep your eye on here despite only having a pair of  efforts so far this season. He romped home at Wincanton by a hefty 22 length margin to capture a Grade 2 victory and that’s going to see him get some more attention in the ante post market. You’ll find him around a 4/1 price tag.
