The Kentucky Derby and Oaks were set back to the first weekend in September and they still plan to proceed with the big races and there are even plans afoot to allow fans to attend in a limited capacity.
Adding to this the fact that they have a stellar crop of animals coming through the three-year-old ranks this season with a number of talented runners emerging in the male and female divisions. A small handful of horses look like they could wind up being once-in-a-generation types with Tiz The Law looming as the massive favourite in the male division after a series of excellent victories over any comers so far.
In the Kentucky Oaks division we have Gamine, who is trained by west coast powerhouse Bob Baffert, who has strung together a steady series of blockbuster victories while looking like she isn’t even going all out at any point in her races. She rocketed to fame during her massive victory on Arkansas Derby Day to triumph by an 18 length margin.
Though she did wind up being disqualified later for a slight lidocaine overage, she has gone up to show that the performance was not a freak one. She has put together comprehensive victories in each contest since then and looks likely to kick on and make another big impression at Churchill Downs on September 4th.
