A major race in the career of many different National Hunt superstars is the RSA Chase which often sets up an emerging chaser for much bigger things as they move further on in their careers. There is plenty of solid selections in the mix here but lots of good quality contenders can falter on the big stage so getting your wagers right here is important.

Champ comes in for JP McManus and Nicky Henderson and there is a lot to like about his ability. He was able to win his first two contests this year but a falling effort on New Year’s day has put some question marks over his ability to perform on major race days. 

One of the most interesting variables behind him is the fact that he has been sent off at an odds on price every time he has gone out this season and he deserves respect in this race as well despite the fact that he hasn’t really been victorious at Cheltenham so far in his career. 

He was able to muster up a second place finish in the Ballymore Novices Hurdle last season and the switch over to proper fences has been an important step for him as he continues to mature into a potential National Hunt hero. The markets have him priced around a 3/1 or 7/2 margin and he has every chance here to make a serious impression. 

He faces some stiff competition from a couple of really talented contenders here and there is a lot to like about his ability going forward if he can vanquish some of the talent that is priced just behind him in the ante post markets.
