2020 Sussex Stakes Glorious Goodwood Betting

Undefeated Siskin puts his record on the line in one of the key fixtures at Glorious Goodwood next week in the Sussex Stakes. This is one of the best contests in the British Champions Series and you can bank on this one producing a decent payout since all of the contenders in the ante post mix boast some solid prices and there is plenty of talent set to run here.

Siskin comes into the contest on the back of a victory in his seasonal debut over Vatican City where he was triumphant by 1 and ¾ lengths at the Curragh. He was sent off on the day at a 2/1 price and was able to topple that Group 1 field relatively easily.

He was able to win the Keeneland Phoenix Stakes last year before heading onto the shelf for several months and this will only be his second race since last August. He does look to be in solid form and, though this is a slightly tougher task here, his form should stand up. He is unraced outside of Ireland but high-calibre Irish contenders have made a habit of scooping up Group 1 victories in England since the flat season has restarted.

Punters will find Siskin trading at a 7/4 best price in the ante post markets and those odds should drop on the day, particularly if he makes a really nice pre-race appearance.

Godolphin’s Mohaather looks to be his key rival here as the recent Group 2 winner from the Summer Staks at Royal Ascot looks to stamp his impression on the contest. He was a tame seventh place finisher on his seasonal debut and then the drop to a Group 2 contest saw him get the win that he likely deserved. The bookmakers have him priced at a 5/2 listing right now.

2000 Guineas winner Kameko is the third favourite here and he was fourth place behind Serpentine in the Epsom Derby so the cut back in distance here should suit him well, the odds floated at around 4/1 look decent but some might want to back him at a higher price taking on older colts for the first time.

Circus Maximus has put in a decent efforts in his only run this season so far, winning the Queen Anne Stakes at Royal Ascot on his seasonal debut. He was fourth to Uni last year in the Breeders’s Cup and will be able to put a big impression on some of the younger favourites that he’s set to tackle in this race. Look for him at a price of around 13/2 with most major bookmakers.
