2021 Champion Bumper Cheltenham Betting
- By A.J. Ryder on February 25, 2021 19:24 GMTOne of the most interesting races at every Cheltenham Festival is the Champion Bumper because it typically picks out contenders who will emerge the following year as they get out onto the hurdles circuits and wind up in some of the races like the Supreme Novices, the JCB Triumph and the Neptune Novices.

It’s also usually a rather formful race and one of the few where you don’t need to worry about a potential faller - and that’s always a bonus at Cheltenham.
Willy Mullins charge Kilcruit comes into the race fresh off a victory in a Grade 2 Irish National Hunt race at Leopardstown. He was able to pull off a 12 length score that day and it will set him up to come into this race at a rather short price. Right now, you’ll find them priced around a 2/1 listing with several top bookmakers and that could wind up dropping as we get closer to the race.
Gordon Elliot’s Sir Gerhard comes into the contest after a listed score and could be poised to make an impression as well. He really emerged when he opened his account for the season under rules at Down Royal where he took a substantial victory in a maiden contest. He also has a point to point victory to maintain his unbeaten record.
Look for him around an 11/4 price tag.
Eileendover was able to get a victory in a mares national hunt flat race previously and she’s likely to have a run here at a decent price. The bookmakers have her trading around a 10/1 best price and that makes her look like an interesting each-way bet.
Other notables include Three Stripe Life at 12/1, Balco Coastal at 20/1 and Belle Metal can be backed around 25/1.
