Ballyadam is in the mix for the Supreme Novices as well and he’s been getting tough draws against Appreciate It in his last couple of races but had looked good in his contests prior. He took the Grade 1 Royal Bond Novices Hurdle at Fairyhouse back in November but his subsequent efforts have seen him run a step behind the likes of Appreciate It.
You’ll find Ballyadam priced around a 9/1 with several top bookmakers.
The real wild card in the mix here looks to be Zanahiyr who is still only four but looks to be emerging as a serious contender despite not having faced off against Grade 1 company as of yet in his brief hurdling career. A victor at first asking when he captured a maiden score back in October than rifled off a solid victory at Fairyhouse and a Grade 2 score on Boxing Day at Leopardstown showcased his potential ability as a jumper.
He was fancied on the day and sent off at a slim ½ price tag and looked really good doing it. Prior to that his Fairyhouse score in a Grade 3 came by a hefty 14 length margin over his nearest rival.
The bookmakers seem to be struggling to price him with some going as high as 14s while others go as low as a 7/1 margin. He is taking plenty of money in the market for the JCB Triumph Hurdle (where he is 2/1) but he may opt for the Supreme - particularly if there is a withdrawal or two.
