2021 Grand National Ante Post Preview PT 2

Any Second Now is looming as the second choice for the National and he’s also going to be considered an Aintree debutante this time around. His form card is interesting this year, having been pulled up on his seasonal debut and then spending a month and a half on the shelf only to come back and rifle off a Grade 2 victory at Navan just last week.

There’s plenty to like about his ability and you might remember him as the 2019 Kim Muir winner at the Festival. The bookmakers have him priced across an interesting range of listings with some going as low as 9/1 and others offering up a 12/1, which would make him an interesting each-way squeak for some.

Burrows Saint is in the mix among the leading fancies as well and you’ll see he’s had a rather forgettable season with his two runs failing to produce a victory. He was well-beaten in his seasonal debut and then came back in a six-runner Grade 2 only to be able to muster up a place finish.

He notably won the Irish Grand National back in 2019 so you know that this horse has the ability to get the job done if needed but his form over the last couple of years has just left a lot to be desired. With some luck on the run, he could be bang-in there at the finish but there are probably better horses from a price and talent standpoint out there.

Magic of Light is one that could catch the eye here, having shown her Grand National credentials with a second place finish back in 2019. She ran poorly at the festival, finishing eighth in the mares chase but hadn’t been out of the placings in her previous runs this year - winning a three-runner listed race back in mid-December.

She’s priced around 20/1 with several top bookmakers and, with no reference race from last year, there is plenty of position for her to come back and stake her claims at Aintree.
