There have been plenty of horses who stamped their names during the two year old season but you reckon there will be a few surprise contenders to emerge shortly.

There’s a lot to like about Essential Quality and the Godolphin runner could wind up being a key figure in Sheikh Al-Maktoum’s many attempts to win the Kentucky Derby. Right now, the bookmakers have him trading at a great price of around 12/1 for Kentucky Derby glory and if he is able to make it into the gate on the first Saturday in May it will be at a much shorter price than that.
Life Is Good was a big money purchase and could be a major player during the road to the Derby if he is able to stay healthy. The bookmakers have him listed at a 12/1 price and he looks good value for money there. Trainer Bob Baffert will likely point him towards a campaign at Oaklawn Park and is likely for the Rebel and the Arkansas Derby.
Caddo River made a big impression recently and is now fully on the Derby Trail and attracting plenty of attention because of it. He can be backed around a 14/1 price tag and that makes a solid each-way bet if you can find somewhere paying out four or five places on the Derby.
Concert Tour and Prevalence both trade around 16/1 price tags and look like they could be players here. Both will require another and more emphatic victory as we get closer to the state level Derbies but so far neither has really done anything wrong and they could be solid contenders.
Midnight Bourbon has been a wiseguy play for a lot of people over the last few weeks and looks like he could be able to build on his already impressive resume - you’ll find him trading at a 20/1 price tag while the real mystery horse could be Bezos who is already available at a 20/1 price. The Empire Maker colt is still without a run but the word on the street is that Bob Baffert is sitting on another monster.
