Concert Tour has been widely tipped as one of the key wiseguy horses to emerge from this year’s Derby trail. He wasn’t firing on all cylinders in his last race but he had already qualified for the Derby so they likely didn’t want to leave his Churchill race on the track at Oaklawn.

His conditioner Bob Baffert knows how to win races like these and many expect Concert Tour to be primed for a big performance. A few whispers have been out there that he may not actually run but so far we are seeing him firmly pointed towards the Derby. 

Highly Motivated is another interesting contender and he will be representing some of the west coast hopefuls in the Kentucky Derby. Many expect his price of around 10/1 to make him an interesting each-way shout in the ante post markets going forward. 

He’s also trading at the same price as Hot Rod Charlie and he has been considered an interesting option for those looking to play against Essential Quality. A lot of social media chatter around Hot Rod Charlie has emerged and plenty of punters think he’s going to be able to deliver on the first Saturday in May. 

Those looking for a genuine spoiler could do well to back Canadian runner Soup & Sandwich who not only has one of the most interesting names in the race but he boasts some solid form and a pedigree that shows he can handle a route of ground.
