There’s a lot to like about this field and it will be interesting to see how the market develops as the ground conditions start to become more clear as we get closer to the race itself. 

The clerk of the course at Chepstow has declared that the only major problem that kept the race from running on its original date has to do with one of the areas around the old water jump and this has led to them having no choice but to postpone the race. This has led to some horses potentially being pointed elsewhere, which has effected the market. 

Right now, punters will find that Secret Reprieve is trading as the outright favourite contender and he comes into the frame having secured the Welsh National Trial Handicap in early December. Prior to that his only start of the season was a falling effort at Haydock but he looks to be a serious contender for the Evan Williams yard and you’ll find him trading with most major bookmakers as the 7/2 favourite. 

Springfield Fox is trading as the second favourite with a price of around 8/1 that makes him an interesting each-way contender for some punters. He’s only been out once this year and it was in a Class 4 Novice Hurdle so you get the feeling that it was merely an opportunity to stretch his legs. He has won at Chepstow before and should be in the frame if conditions underfoot suit his running style. 

Nicky Hendersons The Two Amigo’s was beaten by Secret Reprieve in the Trial Handicap and he’ll be looking to get his revenge here. It was very much a best of the rest performance as he was well-beaten into second by about 11 lengths on the day .You can expect him to sit handier this time if they think the race will unfold in a similar manner. 

Other notables include Christmas In April at a 10/1 price tag while Dominateur will interest some with a solid 12/1 listing. Callipso Collonges is an interesting shout if he runs here and will be about 25/1 according to the ante post market.
