All-Weather Saturday for the Scoop6
- By A.J. Ryder on December 3, 2010 20:00 GMTThe jumps scene has dried up awfully quick but big money punting will continue this weekend as the all-weather surfaces at Southwell and Kempton will be providing Scoop6 action for Saturday. Punters will likely enjoy the smaller fields as it makes this a much more winnable jackpot than what we usually see in the 20-strong National Hunt fields that tend to dominate Scoop6 cards when the weather isn't causing interference.

A beaten favourite last time out, SHOSTAKOVICH (Fasliyev) gets the nod here over a nursery field of six. Mr Optimistic comes in off a victory but Shostakovich boasts proven form over the Southwell surface and excels at the 5f distance. He looks set to take advantage of six pounds on top-weight Style and Panache.

TALENTI (Sadler's Wells) comes off the claiming circuit after three wins on the bounce and he'll be trying to tackle this tricky eleven-strong handicap. He is three wins from four career races over the AW and there looks to be little reason why the seven year-old son of Sadler's Wells can't get the job done if he gets some room to run onto in the final furlong.

This is easily one of the toughest races of the day to decipher but the play looks to be INGLEBY ARCH (Arch) who shares a sire with Breeders' Cup Classic-winner Blame (Arch). Imprimus Tagula could offer up some resistance and will be dangerous if he gets a sharp ride from Natasha Eaton.

FANTASY GLADIATOR (Ishiguru) has been supremely consistent over the past few races and has not finished off the board since mid July. He enters the race fresh off a handicap score over the Kempton surface and he should handle the stretch out in distance. He has recorded his career best figures at Kempton and doesn't have to give up too much as top-weight.

This seven-strong race looks to be even more interesting as Iron Out (Straight Man) looks to be doubtful for a run here. Keep your eyes on COSIMO DE MEDICI (Medicean) as the three year-old has been knocking on the door for some time and looks to be well-weighted for this contest against an inconsistent field.

ARTEUS gets the nod for the final leg of the Scoop6 and this talented four year-old bay gelding comes in fresh off a 7f score at Lingfield when sent off at 8/1. He had been second best at a 33/1 price in a 6f contest over Kempton back in September and his connections will have learned a thing or two since then. He looks very progressive from an official rating standpoint and will be tough to beat with a clean trip.
