Game Winner has been a prominent member of Bob Bafferts barn since he set the world on fire with his two-year-old performances last year but now it appears as though he is off for the rest of the season and will miss the Classic. Certain bookmakers still have him floated around 10/1 but there is little no chance that he comes back before his four-year-old season.
Maximum Security has probably been one of the most controversial horses of the year after finishing first in the Kentucky Derby but being disqualified for interference on the far turn. This saw a massive outpouring of controversy from a number of different fans and racing experts as his connections even planned to sue Churchill Downs to ensure that he could be marketed as the “Kentucky Derby winner”.
He has put in a few disappointing performances, however, as he was expected to win his next few races easily. He was then pulled out of the Pennsylvania Derby over the past weekend after being considered the ante post favourite for the $1m contest for quite some time.
He is priced around a 9/1 or 10/1 margin right now and remains firmly pointed at the Classic by his connections.
Omaha Beach is in the mix here and he was widely considered to be one of the top contenders of this year’s three-year-old crop but he has been plagued by injuries so far. He has been back in training and looks likely to make another statement as we get closer to the build-up for the Breeders’ Cup.
