Breeders’ Cup Classic Betting Update PT 1

The most widely-anticipated race of the 2016 Breeders’ Cup World Championships in Arcadia, California was given a very thorough shake-up as Aidan O’Brien confirmed that superstar filly Found would not be returning to the Breeders’ Cup looking for a repeat of her sensation Breeders’ Cup Turf victory at Keeneland - but would instead take on the highest rated horse in the world in California Chrome as she tackles the dirt for the first time in her career in the Breeders’ Cup Classic.

California Chrome has been dominating the ante post market ever since he picked up a massive victory in the Awesome Again last time out at Santa Anita Park.

While he may be based at quarter horse track Los Alamitos, he has done some of his best running at the venerable northern Los Angeles raceway and he has been terrorizing the bookmakers in the ante post market with the vast majority of punters preferring the superstar from the blue collar pedigree.

There are a number of larger bookmakers who are listing California Chrome at an odds-on price of about 5/6 or 10/11 but the majority of them have him trading at around an even money price - which is more or less what he’s going to go off at on the day of the race if predictions are to be believed.

The big challenge had been previously assumed to come from the speedy Arrogate, who body slammed the three-year-old division when he romped by nearly 13 lengths in the Travers Stakes at Saratoga.

The bookmakers have the Bob Baffert-trained three-year-old colt by Unbridled’s Song priced at around 3/1 for victory here and he is widely-considered to be the chief spoiler to California Chrome’s coronation at Santa Anita Park.
