Camelot Taken Into 4/1 for 2012 Arc

After winning a very tricky iteration of the 2000 Guineas, Camelot has set himself up for an incredible year as he looks set to pursue a number of European Classic races. The Coolmore three-year-old will be set to contesting a number of top contests this year and his dramatic victory, over very testing ground that did not suit him, has seen his price clipped pretty much everywhere for all of the big races he may be targeting.

As it currently stands, several bookmakers now have Camelot priced at odds-on to win the 2012 Epsom Derby. There is a broad-range of prices available with 4/5s available at some bookmakers and 5/4 listing up for grabs everywhere else.
His closest competitors in the 10f Derby look to be Akeed Mofeed – a maiden winner who looked good finishing second in a five-horse race at the Curragh last year. The John Oxx-trained son of Dubawi can be had as low as 10/1 while other bookmakers price him at 15/1.
Frankel's younger brother Noble Mission is also in the mix for this one with some tremendous variance in his price to win the Derby. You'll find him as low as 14/1 while other bookmakers trade at a 25/1 listing.
Many expect Camelot to stretch out to the longer distance set to be tackled in the Arc De Triomphe and he's been taking into 4/1 across the board. Defending champion Danedream scored a rare victory for German racing at this level and he's available at a 10/1 price to win the Arc once again.
Danedream will have improved in his fourth year and it may be worth dropping a bet on him now just in case Camelot doesn't make the Arc.
Other contenders mixed up in the Arc include ST Nicholas Abbey, Snow Fairy, Nathaniel, Sea Moon and Dubai World Cup winner Monterosso.
