Dial a Bet Chase at Leopardstown Looks All About Big Zeb
- By A.J. Ryder on December 22, 2010 15:23 GMTWith Sunday's card at Leopardstown now looking to be off, we'll be eagerly anticipating the Monday fixture, which could include a few extra graded races in addition to some of the high-class action expected over fences.
It's really hard to ignore Big Zeb in this 2m1f contest as this is his preferred distance and he absolutely relishes the softer going. He'll be looking to secure his fourth graded race in 2010 and he should be able to topple any of the other contenders here if he gets a clean trip. Right now he hovers around 7/4 in the antepost market.
Golden Silver is expected to provide the main competition and you'll find Willy Mullins charge priced around 9/4 and that's reasonable considering he comes in off a Grade 2 score at Fairyhouse, though he was bested by Big Zeb at Navan back in early November.
J'Y Vole is another Mullins charge and he enters the race trading around 8/1. That's about right as he looks a place-only against a talented field like this one. He could be poised to exploit any mistakes but will need a serious step up in class to contend in this one.
Captain Cee Bee appears to be the real spoiler here and his 3/1 listing should actually rise a bit on the day if the expected volume pours in on Big Zeb. The Grade 3 Poplar Square Chase served as his prep for this one and he stormed to victory when sent off at 9/10. It's important to remember that he is still progressing out of novice company, but he's shown ability and guile over this type of distance and he'll likely be there or therabouts on the day.
