You can expect Roger Varian's talented contender Postponed to loom as the chief betting favourite here during the build-up to the race. As it currently stands, you'll find him hovering around a price of about 2/1 with the majority of major bookmakers. His last effort was a solid second place in the Dubai City of Gold, which is a Group 2 event.
Last year he kicked things off with a victory in that race as his seasonal debut and then followed on with a two length victory over Duramente in the Sheema Classic so you can see why so many think he's ripe for another solid performance.
His old rival Highland Reel looks to be the main threat to him here and he has been a globetrotting superstar for quite some time now – showing up at virtually all of the top international destinations from the Breeders' Cup to Hong Kong to Dubai to Royal Ascot. This is a horse who has travelled the world taking on all comers and he has built a strong base of support.
Right now, you'll find Highland Reel priced around a 9/2 margin right alongside Jack Hobbs. Of the two, you would really have to give the edge to Highland Reel on the day seeing as though Jack Hobbs has been punching it out in some great races but hasn't really done much since finishing first in the Irish Derby.
Seventh Heaven can be backed at a 9/1 margin and that's going to be an interesting each-way shout for some but with most books only paying two places on the each-way that one could be more difficult than it initially seems. Sounds of Earth can be backed right now at a price of around 16/1 while Earnshaw trades as the 40/1 longshot.
