Jumps Racing for Thursday from Wincanton, Thurles, Market Rasen and Hereford
- By A.J. Ryder on November 17, 2010 21:34 GMTWe’ve got a few more options today with some quality fixtures set to run at four different racecourses.
There’s plenty of interesting options available for National Hunt enthusiasts. We ended yesterday up just a touch (based on all six bets covered each way) and Thursday presents a number of different striking opportunities.
1:50 at Wincanton
We’re starting things off in a five runner contest going 2m5f over fences. The play looks to be co-top weight EASTER LEGEND who has Sam Thomas up for the trip this time out.
She comes in off a Fontwell score over a field of six and finished a rather respectable fifth in the David Nicholson Mares hurdle at Cheltenham earlier this year. She only gives 6 pounds to the others and is clearly head and shoulders above the rest. With a clean trip, she should get us off to a solid start as she continues her chasing career.
2:20 at Wincanton
This one is a bit all over the place and we’ll definitely be staying away from Buck Magic as he has not proven himself over hurdles yet and has struggled to finish races in the past. This 2m6f should separate the men from the boys and we’re going to jump board Paul Nicholls’ VICO who enters the race off a solid second place finish when sent off as the betting favourite.
This isn’t the easiest field to tackle but there is really nobody in particularly intimidating form here. Possible spoilers include Stadium Arcadium and Roalco De Farges. Expect Vico at a decent price as he’s likely going to be worth a bash.
2:40 at Market Rasen
An interesting field of eleven line up for the 2:40 at Market Rasen set to go 2m5f over ground listed as good to soft. HIPPODROME looks to be an interesting outside selection here and he comes into the race after very nearly scoring at 2m3f over the same surface.
That looked a good prep and he should be able to handle the stretch out in distance here. He has scored before in handicap company and looks like a real each-way contender. Alan King’s Peter Grimes looks a decent option as well but could be carrying too much weight for this one.
2:45 at Thurles
We’re zipping up to Ireland for this one, and the most appealing selection here is clearly SIZING MEXICO who invades from Fairyhouse after just missing out in his seasonal debut over hurdles. He is well-weighted for this and, from an official ratings standpoint, you would struggle to find a better recommendation. He’ll handle the going and has demonstrated the ability to handle pressure in the final furlong. You reckon he needed the race two weeks back and should progress nicely here.
3:00 at Hereford
This one doesn’t really look particularly tough and it appears as though the race will really come down to whether FLEUR DE VASSY performs to expectations or not. He comes off a break since the end of March but should be able to handle these fresher contenders and couldn’t ask for more considering how little weight he is expected to carry for this one.
Moulin De La Croix scould offer up some pressure with Sam Twiston-Davies up, but it will take a very solid trip to outdo Fleur De Vassy running anywhere close to his potential.
3:10 at Market Rasen
Our final race of the day sees us head back to Market Rasen for a stab at this 2m1f handicap hurdle. LEAN BURN gets the nod in a five-horse field and should be able to take advantage of a 12 pound weight penalty to top-weighted The Fox’s Decree.
Nobody comes into this with much form and Lean Burn should capitalize on this one, having amateur riders aboard opens things up as well.
