Jumps Racing on Tuesday from Lingfield and Sedgefield
- By A.J. Ryder on November 22, 2010 22:06 GMTWe had a solid weekend for anybody taking our early antepost tips last week on Master Minded, and the real firecracker of the 2010/11 National Hunt season- Paul Nicholls’ Silviniaco Conti.
Without tooting our own horn too much we should remind readers that we’ve been aboard the French jumper in his two UK outings this season.
Only two tracks set to go with a jumps card tomorrow so we’ll be dividing our time between Sedgefield and Lingfield.
1:00 at Sedgefield
We’ve got novice mares going 2m4f here in Class 4 action. There aren’t really any standout contenders aside from top-weight Dorabelle, but we’ll be jumping aboard BORAGH PRINCESS as she looks set to take advantage of a 7 pound weight penalty. A beaten favourite last time out at Worcester, the Gordon Elliot-trained mare has placed in her past two and could be set to progress here if she shows acumen at the distance. She has only finished outside the top two once this year and she was up against much higher quality that day at Kilbeggan.
1:20 at Lingfield
Nigel Twiston-Davies saddles up L’ACCORDIONISTE for this one and this looks to be the play as the undefeated five year-old novice gives a mere 4 pounds to a rather rag-tag assortment of contenders.
Tony McCoy and Ragdollianna will take some money but the simple fact remains that the horse just doesn’t win very often. Shifting from Uttoexeter to Lingfield shouldn’t prompt any issues from the 2/2 jumper and it looks as though they haven’t found the bottom of him yet.
2:00 at Sedgefield
MARSH WARBLER all the way here as this juvenile hurdler looks head and shoulders above top-weight Al Dafa. The 3 year-old chestnut looks to have taken to the fences since a switchover from a mediocre career as an all-weather staple and he captured a maiden hurdle his last time out at Bangor-on-Dee.
It wasn’t the most accomplished performance but he still cruised to victory and we’ll be backing him as he should be able to show much more here with a better trip as he faces off against contenders he should handle.
2:30 at Sedgefield
We’ve got a class 4 handicap chase set to go 2m110y at Sedgefield with some fairly evenly-matched jumpers set to line up for this one. SCHINKEN OTTO looks the progressive choice here and he is coming into form at just the right time. He’s found his groove at Sedgefield and it really looks to be his course as he’s run 231 with all of his past three runs earning him OR’s of 91.
Top weight War Party comes into this one off a maiden score at Stratford but has no proven record over this surface and gives up 6 massive pounds to his rivals here.
2:50 at Lingfield
Having AP up for this one looks to be just the ticket for AZTEC TREASURE as the Jonjo O’Neill charge looks to have enough to tackle this six-strong field. He flourishes in heavy going and has proven acumen at the 3m distance.
There is some talent on display in this handicap chase and it might really come down to who gets the cleaner trip here. Should AP get Aztec jumping well and timing things properly then the two could be tough to beat.
3:20 at Lingfield
Our final kick at the can on Tuesday is a 2m110y handicap hurdle with some very evenly-matched jumpers. 13 year-old warhorse Alph looks to be suffering from his lengthy season and he just doesn’t seem to be able to find the finish line.
We’ve been hitting well with bottom-weights lately and SUN QUEST looks the play here after missing out in his last race at Taunton. He’s only been out twice this year and has improved so he looks the choice with a full stone on the top-weight.
