Kentucky Oaks Betting Preview
- By A.J. Ryder on July 20, 2020 17:57 GMTThings are definitely getting interesting as we get closer to the running of the Kentucky Oaks at Churchill Downs with a really solid group of three-year-old fillies being pointed towards the 1m1f classic. The big story has obviously been the fact that the Derby and Oaks have been moved from May to September.

There are still question marks over whether the race will run with fans in attendance and a plan is in motion for a half-capacity edition of both major days with tickets currently on sale.
Bob Baffert has unleashed a very talented, albeit controversial, favourite in his charge Gamine who caught the eye running at Oaklawn Park back in April for many of the wrong reasons. Baffert had both Gamine and another horse show up a positive for lidocaine following the race and the numbing agent earned the Hall of Fame trainer a 15 day suspension - which he is appealing.
Gamine comes into the race with a solid price tag of around 7/4 if you really do think that she’s going to live up to all of her potential on track. She has put in some freakish performances and many were hoping that she would point towards the Kentucky Derby and take on the boys with the extra furlong to contest.
Swiss Skydiver is the second favourite and she put in a really good performance last time out to finish second running against her male counterparts. She has seen her connections declare that the Oaks was the priority and this has seen her price drop in that market to around a 7/2 listing.
Finite brings a bit of appeal based on her recent performances and she’s trading a 7/1 best price right now with a number of top bookmakers. Speech was able to muster up a great performance last time out to win at Saratoga and she’ll be looming large for this race with a solid price on offer of around 10/1 with several top bookmakers.
