There is plenty to like about this massive contest which is virtually always a key prep for the Cheltenham Gold Cup in March.

Several of the top names in chasing are in the mix here and you can expect plenty of interesting movement in the odds as we build up to the race itself.
Right now, the bookmakers seem to favour the likes of Cyrname as your slim favourite and he’s coming in fresh off an impressive victory in the Charlie Hall Chase on his seasonal debut at Wetherby. A runner up to Clan Des Obeaux in this race last year, he was unable to prove himself at the festival after picking up an injury which sidelined him for the remainder of the National Hunt season.
He showed that he is certainly no worse for wear a couple of weeks ago and he will be coming back into this one with the bookmakers floating him around a 10/3 price tag for the victory. He’s made short work of the Kempton course in the past when he was dominant on the novice chase circuit and you can expect him to be able to measure up to the competition here.
Clan Des Obeaux was victorious in this race last year but wound up running a disappointing race in the Gold Cup. He is still unraced this season and holds an entry to the Betfair Chase this weekend. Many expect that to be a stepping stone to the King George and he has every chance to make an impression here this time around.
