With not much classic or group-level action kicking off in the UK and Ireland this weekend, many racing fans have been watching the racing at Belmont ahead of the third leg of America's Triple Crown. The racing world stateside woke up to a shock this morning as Triple Crown contender I'll Have Another was scratched from contention just 24 hours prior to the race was set to run.

Connections blamed a tendinitis flare-up for the last minute decision and, considering that the horse galloped earlier today, it must have just happened.
This has seen a tremendous level of disappointment from many of those involved but it was certainly better to retire I'll Have Another in lieu of running him when he obviously had a problem. Jockey Mario Gutierrez has achieved world fame thanks to his ride's on the California-based horse and there's a lucrative stud career waiting for him.
The attention turned back to the race and we've now seen Dullahan take over as the prohibitive betting favourite with a price of around 4/1 being taken into 7/4 by popular UK bookmaker Ladbrokes. The American morning line has placed him at 9-5 but it will be interesting to see how the pari-mutuel wagering swings things during the build-up to the race.
Union Rags, a big disappointment in the Kentucky Derby is back for this one and he'll be going off at a 5/2 listing with the UK bookmakers. The most physically-impressive horse in the race, many wonder whether his superstar two-year-old form was only because he developed quickly. He must improve to win this race. His connections have a great story and many will be rooting for him.
Paynter is a bit of an unknown quantity with only a few races under his belt. Trained by Bob Baffert and owned by Zayat Stables, Baffert wasn't shy about insisting that Paynter was a better horse than Derby and Preakness favourite Bodemeister. Punters can find Paynter as low as 5/1.
Street Life is priced at 8/1 and would be a major coup for his connections if he was to get the victory here. His sire would certainly have another feather in his cap.
Optimizer is priced at 14/1 and D. Wayne Lukas knows how to win this race. Unstoppable U is trading at 16/1 alongside the very interesting My Adonis.
The winner of last year's Belmont was Ruler On Ice, who came out of the woodwork to win this race at a 22/1 price. My Adonis has a very similar line up of races and an acumen for sloppy tracks. He also boasts the exact same connections.
It will be a very interesting race and a fitting testament to the American Triple Crown.
