Pegasus World Cup Betting Update PT 1

The post draw for the newly-vaunted World's Richest Horse Race has finally unfolded and it really served up an entire other dimension to the contest with the two leading contenders – who had been slogging it out for the ante post favourites position for quite a while – are as far apart as possible. Arrogate and California Chrome will break from far ends of the field with Chrome drawing the 12 slot and Arrogate seemingly getting the short end of the stick with the 1 hole.

This latest chapter in the build up to the big contest has seen things get even tighter in the ante post markets with California Chrome also being named the Mornig Line favourite with the local bookmaker at Gulfstream Park.

In fact, while many have noted that few if any horses have actually won at Gulfstream this meet breaking from an outside post at over a mile, it looks like California Chrome was hit on the exchanges after the draw since he was taken into a 5/6 price tag to actually win the race over this tricky field of twelve.

Arrogate had actually proven to be the more favoured horse in the European markets during much of the build up to the race and you'll find that he's dropped back behind Chrome with many now questioning whether he's going to be able to navigate the one stall with Prayer for Relief to his outside. You have to wonder whether the talented colt can carry his speed throughout the entire nine furlongs with the type of pace pressure that the majority of observers think will happen.

Right now you'll find Arrogate available at a best price of around 5/4 for the outright victory here and a few bookmakers have him as low as an 11/10 listing as well. It will be more interesting to keep your eye peeled on Arrogate's price on the day since the sheer volume on the race indicates that he could be a lot higher than on the day if the odds unfold just right – particularly if he doesn't make a very good pre-race appearance.
