- By A.J. Ryder on March 17, 2020 16:38 GMTThoroughbred racing is still continuing on in America despite the temporary halt to racing in the United Kingdom and Ireland. With the Kentucky Derby now being rescheduled until September, it definitely adds a different element to how things are going to unfold during the prep season heading up to the run for the roses.
All Kentucky Derby points races will still remain valid and it remains to be seen how everything will shape up as a few other races - such as the Haskell Stakes and the Travers - could wind up factoring into this equation.
The race itself looks to be an interesting one and this contest has a few solid contenders lining up in it who could wind up making a much bigger impression down the road this year. Fair Grounds has been attracting a number of top trainers and horses over the last couple of months and this has been exacerbated by the COVID-19 crisis that has closed a few other tracks.
Enforceable appears to be looming as the ante post favourite ahead of the 2020 Louisiana Derby. The Mark Casse-trained son of Tapit has strung together some really solid performances so far this season and he was victorious in the Grade 3 Lecomte Stakes and then a close second in the Grade 2 Risen Star in his second start of the season.
