It appears as though the biggest gamble of the 2012 Dubai World Cup card could wind up being Rocket Man in the 5f Golden Shaheen. The shortest-distance contest on offer for the day, this one features an interesting assortment of international contenders and, should Rocket Man fail to hit the line first, there are some substantial prices available for the outside selections.

Coral recently released a press release indicating that they had trimmed their best-price of 3/1 to 5/2 after a punter walked into their Hammersmith branch and plunked down a total of four thousand pounds on Rocket Man for the win-only.
Currently trading at 5/2 virtually everywhere else, some bookmakers have begun taking him into a 2/1 price which could shrink even further on the day as punters seem convinced that the seven-year-old is poised to win back to back Shaheens
He produced an excellent performance to win by an impressive 5 length margin in the Kranji Stakes in Singapore and it serves as a credible prep for this contest.
Rocket Man is generally quite solid and has proven his ability to win over course and distance, however, he can sometimes be a bit outpaced and he did suffer two defeats in his season last year – albeit they came towards the end of his campaign.
West Coast hot shot The Factor turns out for Bob Baffert's yard and he'll be looking to build on his seasonal debut in the Grade 2 San Carlos Stakes. He has won on synthetic, having scored in the Grade 1 Pat O'Brien stakes at Del Mar last season. He was well-beaten in a disappointing performance at Churchill Downs but has looked good since then and has been targeting this race for a while.
The Factor currently trades at a competitive 9/2.
