2000 Guineas winner Galileo Gold is definitely the headliner coming into the race and the punters have him backed all the way into a very slim 7/4 price tag as he tangles with a few other really talented contenders here and there are plenty of reasons to think that he's going to kick on and produce another exciting chapter of his 2016 campaign that kicked off with Guineas glory back in late April.
The Al Shaqab owned son of Paco Boy was bested in the Irish 2000 Guineas just a couple of weeks later but then came roaring back to form with a very emphatic display in the St James Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot and there is a lot to like about his ability to keep the momentum going and lock down some good performances to close out the rest of the season now that we are more or less at the midway point of things en route to October.
The talented three-year-old has done well to find the money on a number of times, conquering 5 from 8 lifetime having never actually finished outsie of the placings with his worst result being a credible third against 11 other contenders in the Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere at Longchamp to close out his two-year-old campaign.
He was sent off at a price of about 7/1 that day so he certainly had to his odds against a few other talented contenders while he was just emerging. Heading into that race he captured a Group 2 contest in the race prior at none other than Goodwood racecourse – so he goes into the Sussex with a win already over the York. That's somtheing that many others in the race simply can't boast about so it's an extra ace up his sleeve.
