Thursday November 11 Jumps Racing Tips from Clonmel and Ludlow
- By A.J. Ryder on November 10, 2010 18:13 GMTPlenty more exciting action over fences and hurdles on Thursday, with a few graded races worth deciphering.
There’s more than enough quality to keep the handicappers busy and we’ll be attempting to focus the bulk of our attention on some of the smaller fields, which naturally brings us back to Ludlow after the graded action at Clonmel.

The opener in today’s card at Clonmel looks like an opportunity to side with BINOCULAR who appears to be the stand-out here going 2m on ground rated as soft to heavy. The Patrick Flynn charge has been campaigned throughout the summer months and he’ll be looking to capitalize against this field. He’s been there-or-thereabouts and you reckon that he may not be as prominent as he’s been in the past early in the race and it looks to be tactics undoing him recently as opposed to outright ability. Karkari has been looking solid on the maiden circuit and could be a contender if he can match the step up in class.

This is a fairly evenly-matched field with plenty of talent on display so you won’t fault punters for having a bash on some of the longer-odds selections here. Obviously TRANQUIL SEA is expected to take the bulk of the money and with AJ McNamara aboard for the seasonal debut it looks like a fairly progressive move from Eoin O’Grady’s yard. Tranquil Sea has scored at all graded-levels and will be looking to get his campaign off to a good start. Siegemaster and Let Yourself Go look to be the biggest challengers.

It’s tough to bet against For Bill in this one as she returns to the track for the first time since April after capturing a Grade 3 score at Fairyhouse. She’s only lost once in her career out of 7 races but we’re going to try and beat her today with the progressive-looking CRUISING KATIE who was just slightly outclassed by Cornas in a Grade 3 contest when sent off at 8/1 at Limerick back in early October. She is proven over 2m4f and will be looking to progress here after doing well against maiden company during the summer. Try a For Bill/Cruising Katie reverse forecast for insurance.

We’ll be siding with Paul Nicholls’ talented-looking five year-old SPOCK in this one as he tackles tougher company after a maiden score at Worcester. The Nicholls’ yard will have him well-prepared for this one and it looks like a step up without being overly ambitious. Cavite Beta looks the biggest threat and the Nicky Henderson charge steps down after an unsuccessful attempt at a Grade 2 score. The going looks to be working against Cavite Beta and the step up in trip could undo him.

There’s another short field in this one and we’ll be jumping aboard the bottom-weight SWAY as she looks to conquer a rather underwhelming group of beginner chasers. She boasted a great record in France before having a rather indifferent run in the David Nicholson Mares Hurdle at Cheltenham. That was probably too much too soon and you have to reckon that Jonjo O’Neill and JP McManus know what they’re doing with this one. Mujamead looks the biggest threat to Sway.

JUST THE JOB looks just the ticket here as the well-weighted selection in this 2m5f hurdle. We’ve got amateur riders aboard for this one but the six year-old from the Mulholland yard looks a stand-out bet over a group of inconsistent-looking hurdlers. He picked up his first score two weeks back and looked a few steps ahead of the grade at Plumpton before he was slightly outclassed by Ruby Valentine at Hereford to finish second. He looks to be coming into form at just the right time and will likely go off at an enticing price.
