UAE Derby Betting Preview PT 1
- By A.J. Ryder on March 22, 2017 19:10 GMTWe have another fascinating edition of the UAE Derby set to unfold this year and we have much deeper field than we saw contest the race last time around when it seems as though we had just six or seven contenders in the mix to secure themselves a hefty international payday and an automatic birth in the Kentucky Derby should connections choose to make the trip all the way to Louisville, Kentucky for America's big race.

This time around we have a veritable slew of conteners taking a shot at this one and there are quite a few with extremely plausible prices this time around.
Thunder Snow comes into the races the betting favourite right now and he runs in the familiar colours of Godolphin under the tutelage of Saeed Bin Suroor. There is plenty to like about his chances and the fact that he comes into the contest fresh off a victory in the UAE 2000 Guineas indicates that he will have no problem tackling the distance and inking his name into the echelons of this year's three-year-old season.
If he runs anything like he did the last time then it's going to be tough to beat him if he gets a similar type of trip. You'll find that he made his move particularly early in that race and was able to sustain his run and be driven out at the end by a margin of nearly six lengths. You'll find him hovering around a 9/4 price right now which indicates a lot of respect when you factor in that we have a sixteen-strong field here.
While Thunder Snow is certainly a plausible favourite and Godolphin horses have been no strangers to contesting the Kentucky Derby, it appears as though the big wild card coming into this race with a lot of hype is the Japanese contender Epicharis. Already boasting an entry to the Kentucky Derby thanks to a victory in Japan, this talented three-year-old by Gold Allure conquered the Hyacinth Stakes last time out at a very slim price of 2/5 amongst a field of 15.
