Weekend Horse Racing Betting Preview PT 1

We have a fantastic day of punting action set to unfold on the weekend across various parts of the globe with contests at Randwick, Sha Tin, Meydan, Newbury, Aqueduct and Gulfstream Pak all kick off at various points for racing fans. It all depends on your location as to whether it actually fits into your Saturday or not but we are focusing on a number of those contests here and trying to get a decent gauge on how things might shape up going forward.

At Randick we have the Randwick Guineas happening, which pays a big money purse and then we’ve got the Canterbury Stakes, which also happens to be a Group 1 contest. 

In the Guineas the punters will likely be all over Press Statement who has strung together a really solid series of contests and looks set to get a great ride from the talented Hugh Bowman. The three-year-old colt looks likely to progress after romping in the Group 2 Hobartville Stakes and looking very impressive in doing so. 

That came after some relatively tame barrier trials and he unleashed with a serious flourish and comes back relatively quick here just about two weeks after that victory at Rosehill. 

Expect the main challenge to come from the likes of Montaigne once again as the Road To Rock gelding mustered up a third place finish behind Press Statement last time out and will be looking for a better run this time out. Look for him to race closer to the pace this time with too much for him left to do last time after settling six lengths off the leader. He’s won at Randwick and will be a factor in your exotic bets.
