Zaynar Bet Down Heavily Prior to Coral Hurdle at Ascot
- By A.J. Ryder on November 19, 2010 19:36 GMTAs if the prospect of the quality on offer in the 2:05 Amlin Chase wasn't enough, the Grade 2 Coral Hurdle runs just afterwards, and we're looking at a bit trickier puzzle to decipher at 2:35.
The bulk of the early money looks to have all headed towards Zaynar and it must be admitted that he is considered to be a strong play by several members of the tipping punditry. Backing a five year-old to conquer an in-form field on his seasonal debut is fairly big ask and when you compound that by making it a Grade 2 race, then you really must question whether backing him at 6/4 should send you to a phychiatric facility or not?
SILVINIACO CONTI looks in a rich vein of form and the undefeated Paul Nicholls chestnut is fresh off his first Grade 2 victory in the Persian War Novices' Hurdle. It isn't really the fact that he scored in that race but the manner in which he scored that makes him an especially impressive option in this 2m3f contest. The softer the going, the more he will benefit and 4/1 price looks a tidy piece of business.
Zaynar comes in as a co-top-weight with Ashkazar who looks out of the running at 20/1. Silviniaco gets four pounds on the heavier charges and should take advantage of that.
Karabak is a quality contender but looks to be biting off a bit more than he can chew tangling with the likes of Big Buck's and Quevega. THe Alan King charge has AP up for this one and it will take a skillful ride to score here, though many fancy him to take a piece of this one.
