Frankie Dettori is confirmed for the mount aboard Qipco Long Distance Cup favourite Opinion Poll ahead of this weekend's British Champions Day fixture at Ascot but the attention looks to be all over the respected runner Fame and Glory who has been beat down to a price very close to the betting choice.

A full 2m contest is set to decide the best stayer in Britain this year and a fascinating race is likely to unfold.
The distance and the going are not genuine concerns for many of the contenders in this one and most are proven well beyond a 2m distance anyway. Opinion Poll enters the race at a 7/4 price with several bookmakers, fresh off a four-length loss to Saddlers Rock at Doncaster on the St Leger under card. He was beaten in the Ascot Gold Cup by Fame and Flory with Mickael Barzalona in the irons and that is likely weighing heavily on the minds of punters who are backing the AP O'Brien trained Irish runner so heavily.
Fame And Glory has been a bit out of sorts since that victory back in June with two losing efforts in his next races – he was beaten a mere 1/4 length by Fictional Account at the Curragh in August but then he looked to have had a real error in his next run finishing 23 lengths back from Duncan when sent off at 8/13. You can't be sure whether he was a tired horse or just didn't fire but that last one raises a few concerns.
Eddie Ahern is saddling Times Up who trades at a 7/2 margin and is hitting at a career-high OR of 109 as he emerges off the listed circuit. That might be too short a price for an outsider spoiler but he is group 2 placed and deserves respect.
Other notables include 16/1 Motrice, 20/1 Colour Vision and 25.1 Darley Sun.
