Frankel Faces Seven in Queen Elizabeth II Stakes at Ascot

The leading ace of British flat racing is set to put his unbeaten 8/8 record on the line this Saturday as Frankel headlines the first British Champions Day at Ascot despite not actually running in the feature race. The three-year-old son of Galileo is unraced since his incredible surge in the Qipco Sussex Stakes – a moment which will go down in racing lore for quite some time. The outmatched Canford Cliffs was retired soon after and, with age starting to catch up to living-legend Goldikova, the opportunity exists to stake a claim this Saturday as Europe's best miler.

The final declaration stage passed yesterday and the field has been narrowed to seven contenders ready to try their luck against one of the greatest the sport has ever seen.
Rio De La Plata has been withdrawn by Godolphin so their sole entry this year will be the respected Poet's Voice – a contender that has attracted a hefty 40/1 listing.
Frankie Dettori is expected to take the mount for the blue team.
Tom Queally, of course, will be aboard Frankel once again and he looks to be getting some assistance from his barn who have co-entered Bullet Train for this one. They aren't shy about letting the public know that Bullet Train will likely go to the front and set down a quick pace to ensure that the race is run to Frankel's liking.
Currently trading at 150/1, Bullet Train is Frankel's regular workout partner and the two are developing a bit of a Talladega Nights partnership akin to John C. Reilly and Will Farell.
The big challenges are expected to come from Excelebration and Immortal Verse – both are available at 6/1 with Dick Turpin the next best-priced runner at a lengthy 25/1.
Side Glance and Dubawi Gold round out the field at 33/1 and 40/1, respectively.
