Latest Odds Show Make A Dance Prominent for 1000 Guineas

One of the biggest stories heading into Guineas weekend has been the extremely large gamble being placed on Juddmonte-bred filly Make A Dance (Empire Maker) ahead of the 1000 Guineas. The bay miss has two races under her belt so far and enters the race based on an impressive maiden score against a tough field of 19 over the Newmarket surface. The race will be a seasonal debut for the Khalid Abdulla-owned contender.
The bookmakers have once again clipped Make A Dance in the ante post market and this means punters have seen her price drop from 40/1 to what is a 16/1 listing at the time of this writing.
Conditioner Barry Hills made a statement about Make A Dance on his website, declaring “she was very impressive when she won her maiden at the end of last season at Newmarket and she has matured nicely over the winter.”
The final field for the Qipco 1000 Guineas is still settling down ahead of Sunday's contest with final declarations due shortly. The grounds crew at Newmarket continue to water ahead of the Gunieas meeting with the going expected to be good to firm, good in places.
As it currently stands, Moonlight Cloud (Invincible Spirit), Havant (Halling), and Memory (Danehill Dancer) are all competing for the favourites position with Moonlight Cloud getting a distinct edge at a 4/1 listing with most major bookmakers based on her emphatic score at Maisons-Lafitte when capturing the Group 3 Prix Imprudence.
The manner of Moonlight Cloud's frontrunning victory is likely the reason why the Freddy Head-trained bay filly gets her name in the Guineas marquee. There is no clear standout similar to Frankel (Galileo) in the 2000 Guineas which runs the previous day. It may very well be the coronation of Frankel as the real deal on Saturday, but Sunday's contest could wind up being a much more popular betting race.
