Meydan Betting Preview for January 26 Part 1

There's lots to like about tomorrow's card at Meydan Racecourse as the 2012 Dubai Racing Carnival is well and truly under way. The Grade 2 Al Rashidiya anchors the card at 5:15 but there are several other fascinating contests that you will probably want to keep your eye on.

The 2:45 opener features a deep field set to go 6f on the Tapeta surface. David Nicholls charge Silaah will be going off as the top weight in what is setting up to be a wide open contest. Ariete Arrolador is an eye catcher based on his recent efforts. He's never finished outside of the top 3 and still looks to be a bit progressive despite turning five. He's already nearly opened his account at Meydan with a tough 2nd to Barbecue Eddie two weeks back.
Internationaldebut improved markedly last time out and will be looking to kick on here as well.
The 3:20 is the Dubai Duty Free Foundation, which is a shorter handicap than many of the others on the card. The aforementioned Barbecue Eddie is stepping up for this one and he'll be tackling a tougher group than he met last time out. Take a look at Sweet Ducky, who was making big headlines last year in the run for the Kentucky Derby before being acquired by Ramzan Kadyrov.
From a ratings perspective, only Lowther is in the same rank as Sweet Ducky.
The 4:00 features several interesting players set to do battle over a 7f distance once again. Swop gets the bottom weight here and Kieren Fallon is set for a run. The one to watch might be Godolphin's Time Prisoner, who will be looking to build on the handicap victory he picked up here earlier in the month. Regal Parade didn't miss by too much last time out and the David Nicholls contender will be looking to make a bigger splash here and get back to winning ways for the first time since August of 2010. Albaasil is a lightly-raced colt who could really pull something off on the day with only four outings in the form card. The son of Dansili was a beaten favourite last time out and will enjoy the presence of Richard Hills for the trip.
