Overdose Confirmed for Milan Return

One of the most prominent flat horses to emerge from Central Europe in quite some time has been confirmed for his six year-old campaign. Overdose (Starborough) looks ready to return to the track in mid-April, likely looking to avenge the farcical display at Baden Baden, where he blew his all-time win record to finish a well-beaten seventh after looking extremely uncomfortable going into the gate.

Overdose has been laid off since that race and, despite the lengthy freshening, his connections declare that he's in "absolute tip-top form".

The ultimate destination for Overdose appears to be Ascot with owner Zoltan Mikoczy declaring "if all goes to plan we will come to England for the Temple Stakes at Haydock in May and then over for Ryoyal Ascot... Which is our main aim for this year."

Past attempts to ship Overdose to Ascot for a high-profile score were undone by injury on two occasions.

The 2011 campaign is set to begin in Milan in a listed race run at 5f. Punters will be wondering which Overdose is going to show up this time, but with connections as confident as they seem, it remains likely that Overdose could finally be ready to take on the world's best sprinters. Ante post markets for the Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint could be tilted sharply in his favour if he was to race (and win) at Ascot in June.
