Royal Ascot 2012 kicks off on Tuesday with a stellar opening day line-up of contests that are sure to get the fixture off to a rollicking start. In the opening race, we've got none other than the world's highest rated horse, Frankel, set to defend his undefeated record against ten other high-quality colts, geldings and older horses in the Queen Anne Stakes.

Many are wondering if this will be, indeed, Frankel's last race at the 1m distance. There is a chance he may step up in trip to 1m2f for his next effort.
He faces off against old foe Exceleberation, who will go off as the significant second choice. Look for Premio Loco and Windsor Palace to make up the rest of the trifecta.
In the second contest, the Group 1 King's Stand Stakes, we've got Bated Breath set to go off as the betting choice but we're going to try to beat her with Wizz Kid who should go off at a very reasonable price of 5/1. Sole Power could run a decent race as well and a 9/1 price indicates confidence. Tanegrine Trees is your each-way outsider at 20/1.
In the St James Palace Stakes we've got Power being spotted drifting up towards a 7/2 price having been down as low as 5/2 in the wagering. There are a few interesting shouts here with Cogito looking classy but point your each-way money towards Juddmonte's The Nile.
The Coventry Stakes is always a very open Group 2 event for juveniles and I like the looks of Sir Prancealot who is yet to steer me wrong at this point. Godolphin's Artigiano looks quality as well and will get some respect. If Frankie can coax a mature performance out of him then you can reckon he's value for money.
The Ascot Stakes runs at 5 pm and Monterey looks to be worth a look at a solid 14/1 price tag. Al Khawaneej trades at 8/1 in a race that looks to be a very tricky puzzle.
The nightcap is the Windsor Stakes where Lyric Ace looks to be set to go off as the 4/1 favourite but we're going to try to beat him with Smoothtalkinrascal, who trades at a tempting 9/1.
