Black Caviar 1/20 For Orr Stakes

It appears as though Australian super mare Black Caviar is finally set to step it up in trip for the 7f Group 1 CF Orr Stakes at Caulfield Racecourse this morning. With Royal Ascot being the ultimate destination and Dubai being the likely stepping stone, Black Caviar is set to prep at 7f and possibly even a full mile as connections look to capitalize on the black mare's versatility.

The Golden Shaheen appears to be the Dubai date and she is entered for that and the Al Quoz Sprint.
Speaking to the media, Peter Moody declared “I've always felt she'd be just as explosive if not more so out to 1400 metres and I've suggested even possibly a mile so this is a step in that direction on Saturday.”
Earlier this week, connection precluded a possible run at the 2012 Breeders' Cup at Santa Anita and indicated that a lack of purse money was to blame, though it must be acknowledged that campaigning at 7f and 1m would open up more opportunities for her – especially if she was able to tackle male company.
One of the main reasons for her stepping up in trip so early in her season is the fact that tracks in Australia are so flat and coping with the undulating conditions at Ascot even at 6f would require 7f proficiency over a flat track.
Should she come out of this race in good form, finishing well and pulling away, 1m will likely be the next destination. Then it is onto the Diamond Jubilee Stakes and a massive victory for Australia on a very important date.
