With her eyes firmly-fixed on Royal Ascot in the summer, Black Caviar is looking for a very high-profile prep race in either the 2012 Golden Shaheen or the Al Quoz Sprint. It will be her first effort outside of Australia and the current ranking world #2 (just after powerhouse colt Frankel) will have three runs in Australia with the first one kicking off at Moonee Valley in a week or so.
Undefeated in 16 starts, she will likely be set to tangle with Sheikh Mohammed's Sepoy, who has won nine out of ten starts in Australia and is now training in Dubai with an eye towards the Carnival's premiere fixtures.
One of the key motivators in this one is the fact that Black Caviar is eligible for the Global Sprint Challenge's massive payout of over $1,800,000 due to her score in the Patinack Farm Classic last November in Australia.
You'll struggle to find a higher-profile prep than either the Al Quoz or the Golden Shaheen and her invasion of Royal Ascot is going to be one of the thoroughbred racing stories of the summer. There is no confirmation that she will be headed to the 2012 Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint but if that will make her eligible for an Eclipse Award should she wind up in the United States.
Fans of Black Caviar have a lot to look forward to and the high-profile mare will be looking to make a few big statements overseas this year.
