Frankel's Brother Set to Face Godolphin Duo

A high-quality line up of three-year-olds, many of whom we will see contest the Classics throughout the summer are all set to do battle at Newmarket on Saturday with thirteen pre-entered for the listed Newmarket Stakes. The contest is open to colts & geldings and several prominent yards have some very serious candidates on display.

Obviously, the big name jumping off the page to many is Noble Mission, a full brother to undefeated superstar Frankel. He broke his maiden on the second time of asking when he delivered at a tidy 3/1 price tag against a tricker-than-it-looked field of fourteen at Newbury. Like his brother, he gets Tom Queally in the irons and he looked vastly improved compared to the two-year-old that finished second to Swedish Sailor at Yarmouth last October.

Swedish Sailor is also pre-entered for this one and remains a point above him in the RPR listing despite only having the solitary outing. He's set for his seasonal debut here and it will be interesting to see how improved he is compared to that October maiden event from 2011. He makes up one part of the two-horse Godolphin entry here.

Mariner's Cross comes out for Mahmood Al Zarooni and he is 1/1 lifetime with a score at Newmarket two weeks ago against a tough field of eighteen. He delivered at 6/1 and the three-year-old son of Dubawi looks set to kick on nicely throughout the year.

Michelangelo is an interesting option and may take a bit of money as he's the only horse debuting in the race. They obviously sat on him for a while and pointed him towards this race because they genuinely feel he has the ability to compete or at least acquit himself well. A three-year-old son of Galileo out of a mare who went 1/6, scoring in a maiden at 8.5f, he comes out of John Gosden's yard and could really prove to be the unknown quantity, especially if some of the top contenders make a mistake or two early on.
