Strong Suit Connections Eyeing Frankel Clash

As the flat racing season continues to draw closer by the day, the challengers are beginning to emerge at the Group 1 level, looking to be the one to get that elusive victory over the mighty Frankel. The Juddmonte sensation will be debuting on May 19 this year in the Group 1 Lockinge Stakes and he's already got several strong contenders looking for a score that could prove very marketable during a stud career.

Whoever manages to unseat Frankel, and that's an “if” at this point, will certainly see their value rise and expect that to factor into several of the key narratives during the flat racing season. There's no reason to duck Frankel – there's certainly no shame in being beaten by the best.
One of the main challengers stepping up to the plate already is two-time Group 2 winner Strong Suit. He's set to be the go-to four-year-old for the Richard Hannon yard and you can expect him to take several stabs at Frankel in his pursuit of a key Group 1 win.
Speaking to the media, Hannon declared “he has got his Group 2s and needs to aim for the stars now, so we might have a crack at the Lockinge. It has been such a lucky race for us with the likes of Paco Boy and Canford Cliffs both winning, but this year we might have a certain Frankel standing in our way.”
There is also a possibility that Strong Suit will be cut back from the mile distance and campaigned at 6f or even 7f if 1m or more looks to be too tough of a task. He was well-beaten in the 2011 Breeders' Cup Mile but that came against older horses and the four-year-old son of Rahy will be improved this year and is said to be have filled out nicely.
Should Strong Suit opt for shorter distance contests later in the season, you may see him tangling with a certain Australian super mare.
